Revit
MasterSeries–Revit Link Manager enables reliable uni-directional and bi-directional linking between Revit and MasterSeries, allowing engineers to transfer 3D, entity-based structural models efficiently between platforms. The link is designed to support both early-stage coordination and detailed structural analysis and design workflows.
Supported Families and Sections
The link works out of the box with Revit’s standard Families and includes 32 custom MasterSeries Families, covering built-up beams, double sections, haunches, and secondary members.
Users can also include their own custom-built Families in both uni- and bi-directional workflows. Using the Family Mapping Database, a wide range of section types can be mapped across concrete, steel, and timber. Where required, User Sections can be defined based on mechanical properties for non-standard materials or profiles.
Controlled Bi-Directional Model Exchange
The bi-directional link provides full transparency and control over model updates. During each import or export, users are presented with a detailed list of detected changes, including:
Section size modifications
Member position changes
Clashes between the Revit and MasterSeries models
This allows users to review each change individually and decide which updates to accept or discard, ensuring confidence in every iteration of the shared model.
Default Sections and Revit Version Control
Default sections can be specified for every material and section type. These defaults can also be tied to specific versions of Revit, ensuring compatibility where certain sections are only available in later releases (for example, Revit 2016 and above).
Analytical vs Physical Model – Important Considerations
MasterSeries is a structural analysis and design application and therefore works exclusively with Revit’s analytical model.
The Revit user is responsible for maintaining the physical model, including beam offsets, geometry, and detailing.
The analytical model must accurately represent the physical structure in order for data exchange with MasterSeries to function correctly.
In earlier versions of Revit, analytical members were created automatically from physical elements. However, from Revit 2023 onward, users must explicitly create and maintain the analytical model. This typically involves running Revit’s tools to generate analytical members from physical ones and ensuring they remain aligned as the model evolves.
A well-maintained analytical model is essential for successful linking, accurate analysis, and reliable design results within MasterSeries.
