Simulating a Break in Leaf Continuity using a Dummy Wind Post
Setting a user-defined wind post with a very low moment capacity (e.g. 0.001 kNm) and switching “Breaks outer leaf continuity” to ON should work well to simulate a hinge in the outer leaf, allowing rotation but still permitting shear transfer via the wall ties.
Just be aware that introducing a ‘fake’ post can affect dimensional checks, like panel length-to-height ratios, since it splits the panel. It’s worth checking whether any warnings appear or if the resulting capacity still aligns with expectations.
It’s a good idea to run a few comparisons - with and without the break, and with varying post capacities - to ensure the yield line behaviour and results make sense.
